I grew up in Huntsville, Ontario, where I spent countless hours playing minor and Junior hockey. My passion for the game carried me through college, where I played competitively and deepened/developed/strengthened my understanding of the sport. I’ve lived in Oakville for over 30 years and have been fortunate to be part of the local hockey communities for both boys and girls.
I’ve been a coach in the ORHC for over 20 years and across many levels of development - Rep (A, AA, BB) and House League. Throughout this time, I have held a variety of roles including parent, coach, trainer, and referee. These experiences have provided me with a well-rounded perspective, which strengthens my connections with players and families.
- Priorities: FAMILY, SCHOOL, HOCKEY
- We are looking for commitment, dedication, positive attitude, and high hockey IQ
- Respectful of self, teammates, coaches, parents, opponents, referees
Hockey Program Values and Expectations
As a coach, I focus on developing skills, fostering teamwork, and instilling a love for the game. I’m committed to helping young athletes grow both on and off the ice. Our program emphasizes family, academics, and hockey - in that order. We expect our athletes to show commitment, dedication, and a positive attitude both on and off the ice.
Key Expectations:
- Commitment and Dedication: Show up prepared and give your best effort in practices, games, and team activities
- Positive Attitude: Be coachable, stay focused, and handle challenges with resilience
- Hockey IQ: Demonstrate awareness, smart decision-making, and continuous learning
- Respect: Treat yourself, teammates, coaches, parents, opponents, and referees with class
Our hockey plans for the season include:
- Summer Skill Development Sessions and Exhibition Games (up to June 30th)
- Summer Dryland Program
- Pre-Season Training Camp (dates TBD)
- 2-3 Practices per week
- 1 Team Video Session per month
- Weekly Dryland Training with Limitless Training
- Bi-Weekly Shooting Clinic
- 3-4 tournaments (potentially: Peterborough, Oakville, Halifax)
We also will have a dedicated goaltending coach, shooting coach, and skating coaches that will be a part of our program.
As most players on this team will be entering Grade 9, a major step in their educational journey, part of our off ice program will include access to educational tutors that will be made available to all players for any educational assistance.
Success in our program is built on hard work, discipline, and mutual respect.
