Introducing OREPP - Oakville Rangers Elite Performance Program
On December 17, in response to the OHF’s Open Borders decision we made a bold statement:
- If you’re a Ranger today, this is THE PLACE TO STAY
- If you’re an elite player looking for the best development, this is THE PLACE TO PLAY
- Simply put—Oakville Rangers is THE PLACE TO BE
Oakville is the premier destination for player development, and we promised a high-performance training program to give our athletes a competitive edge - 8 weeks of elite programming in May and June, high-performance skill sessions starting August 15, and team training camps launching August 23.
Today, we’re delivering on that promise. Introducing OREPP – the Oakville Rangers Elite Performance Program, a game-changing initiative designed to take player development to the next level.
OREPP is a high-performance development program that elevates individual skills, team systems, and off-ice conditioning. Initially focused on our AAA teams (U10-U16) and top Red AA teams (U14-U16), this program provides the highest level of training available to Oakville Rangers players.
Phase 1 runs from April 26 to June 26, featuring 2-3 off-ice training sessions and 1-2 on-ice skill development sessions per week, with most sessions scheduled Monday to Thursday to keep weekends free.
By far the most exciting part of OREPP is who is delivering the programming because it is all about coaching:
- INDIVIDUAL SKILLS AND TEAM SYSTEMS: Led by Rob Hisey (VP of AAA) & Mike DeRenzis (Hockey Advisor), both former pro players and elite development coaches with OHL, NCAA, and NHL experience, focusing on hockey IQ, game situational training, and advanced skill development to elevate both players and teams.
- SKATING DEVELOPMENT: We are thrilled to announce elite skating coach Michele Moore Davison (Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL), Toronto Marlies (AHL)) is joining the OREPP program alongside Ryan Moore (Burlington Pond Hockey Training Centre), bringing world-class expertise in acceleration, agility, mobility, and power skating from the junior and pro levels.
- OFF-ICE STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING TRAINING: Led by Paul Ferri (Limitless Training Systems), an NHL and OHL strength coach and Director of Performance for the Niagara IceDogs (OHL), with a new training facility opening exclusively for the Oakville Rangers Hockey Club.
OREPP is more than just a program—it’s a game-changing investment in our players and teams. It ensures that our athletes receive the best possible training, positioning them for success in the OHL, NCAA, and beyond. This is just the beginning. Stay tuned for more exciting updates as we continue to make the Oakville Rangers Hockey Club THE PLACE TO PLAY.

Rob Hisey: Rob was born and raised in Oakville, Ontario, where he began his minor hockey career with the Oakville Rangers organization. Rob played the remainder of his minor hockey years in the GTHL. He was later drafted to the OHL where he spent 4 successful seasons accumulating over 300 points. Rob's professional career spanned 13 years and most of the world's top leagues, including an NHL contract with the NY Islanders and seasons in the AHL, ECHL, CHL, SHL, SMLIGA, DEL, and EBEL. Rob is well known for his creative playmaking and highlight-reel goals.
In 2017, Rob retired from the game and decided to pursue coaching. In the summer months, Rob trained the likes of Sam Gagner, Taylor Hall, John Tavares, Jason Spezza, Quinn and Jack Hughes. Rob's passion for the game is contagious, and he brings a unique skill set to all his lessons.
Mike DeRenzis: Mike DeRenzis' hockey journey took an unexpected turn at 18 when a heart condition ended his playing career just as he was preparing to join an NCAA Division 1 program. However, this challenge opened the door to a successful coaching and player development career. Almost immediately, he joined his Jr. A team as an Assistant Coach and worked with the U11 Oakville Rangers as a practice coach. This sparked his passion for skill development and led to the creation of First Star Hockey, a program he has run for over 15 years, specializing in training elite players from AA/AAA to Jr. A, OHL, and NCAA levels.
Mike's expertise lies in skating mechanics, puck skills, and—most importantly—hockey IQ, helping players improve their decision-making through drills that mimic real-game situations. His success is evident through the many OHL and NHL draft selections among his students, including several from his 2008-born group eligible for next year's NHL Draft.
Most recently, Mike coached the 2008 AAA Oakville Rangers from U11 to U16, leading them to the 2024 OHL Cup Championship. Under his leadership, the team saw 12 players drafted to the OHL, including the 1st overall pick, an NCAA D1 commit to Boston College, and multiple players representing Team Canada at international tournaments, including gold medalists at the U17 World Championships.
Alongside his brother Ryan, who has been with First Star Hockey for over five years, Mike has played a key role in the skill development of Oakville's top talent at the AA & AAA levels. His ability to connect with players, create a fun and competitive learning environment, and instill a passion for the game has made him a cornerstone of the Oakville Rangers development program.
Michele Moore Davison and Ryan Moore: Michele and Ryan bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the game. Both have extensive backgrounds working with high-caliber hockey players. In addition to her work at The Burlington Pond, Michele is a skating coach on the Player Development Staff for the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Toronto Marlies, and their prospects. Ryan has over 10 years of skating & skills coaching at The Burlington Pond and with local organizations, working with elite players in minor hockey, Junior, and Pro levels. Together, they have had great success helping players progress from elite rep levels to the OHL, NCAA, and NHL.
As owners of The Burlington Pond Hockey Training Centre, Michele and Ryan specialize in refining the fine details of skating, enhancing acceleration, agility, mobility, power, and overall speed to help players reach their full potential. They are excited to work with the Oakville Rangers Elite Performance Program and bring their expertise to help develop the next generation of players.
Paul Ferri: Paul has always been interested in Fitness and Performance. After graduating with his second degree at university, he was training clients before and after work when the opportunity struck to buy into a CrossFit Gym. From there, he quit his job at an architecture firm and went full-on into the world of fitness. He was very fortunate at a young age to get involved at the NHL level with the Florida Panthers and Winnipeg Jets, where, over 9 years, he gained the knowledge needed as a Strength Coach to develop programs that focus on the developmental stages of an athlete. He has taken that knowledge of understanding true development. He uses it daily as the Director of Performance for the Niagara IceDogs in the OHL.
In 2015, he founded Limitless Training Systems and, from day one, aimed to bring every element required to fully understand the ins and outs of an athlete into one building. They have developed the most in-depth foundational program possible, focused purely on Athlete Development, from testing to data collection and monitoring everything they need to know about an athlete. He is grateful for the support his Athletes have given them over the years to develop LTS into what it is today - a powerful place focused on YOUR Goals and truly providing the ultimate training experience!
