It is important that goalies have the right equipment, properly fitted. Craig Milner, a dedicated contributor to the ORHC Goalie Development Program and the Lead Instructor at our free House & Advanced League Goalie Development Sessions, is also the Goalie Department Manager at Duke's Source for Sports in Etobicoke, and will gladly answer any questions you may have about your goalie's gear. Craig and his team can be reached at [email protected].
Parents of goalies on an Oakville Rangers Advanced League or Rep Team are encouraged ask their team's Goalie Coach for more details on our Goalie Mentoring Program. How it works is straightforward:
- Teams interested in securing a Goalie Mentor as well as goalie's interested in being a Goalie Mentor should reach out to Tom Wills at [email protected].
- Mentor Goalies will be a resource for younger goalies, both on and off the ice. Beyond attending practice, mentor Goalies can also provide advice about gear, game preparation, handling pressure, etc.
- This is an opportunity for Mentor Goalies to give back to the Club by helping to usher in the next generation of netminders! This is also an opportunity for them to earn Volunteer Hours or even some pocket money!
- if a Goalie Mentor wants to collect volunteer hours for their time spent with the younger goalie, keep track of your hours - at the end of the season we will provide you a Volunteer Letter
- teams may elect to pay Goalie Mentors for coming out to their practices - we would recommend $20/hour
- please note - YOU CAN NOT DO BOTH - you can accept payment OR volunteer hours
For our House League and Advanced League goalies the Oakville Rangers provide free weekly Goalie Development Sessions, run by Craig Milner and back by popular demand! We will be running weekly sessions as follows:
- U10 and Younger Goalies: Weekly, Fridays at 5:15pm, Sixteen Mile Arena (Rink 3)
- U11 and Older Goalies: Weekly, Fridays at 6:15pm, Sixteen Mile Arena (Rink 3)
These sessions are free to our House League and Advanced League goalies, and no registration is required. Teams with rotating goalies (U7, U8, and U9 especially) are strongly encouraged to have their goalie for that weekend come out to the session before their game where, in addition to teaching them the basics of the position, Craig and his team can also provide instruction on the goalie equipment.
