I have been coaching with the Oakville Rangers Hockey Club for over 10 years and have held all roles on the bench (i.e. Trainer, Assistant Coach, Head Coach). This will be my 5th season as Head Coach and my second as a non-parent Head Coach. I am a Hockey Canada Development 1 certified coach.
I am committed to providing a positive, competitive environment for the players to develop their skills, learn to respect each other and have fun.
Our bench staff will encourage and mentor each player to build their confidence in their skills and give them the freedom to be creative knowing that they will make mistakes along the way, these are the teaching moments. We will focus on skill development and teamwork.
The U12 A Red Oakville Rangers will be looking to build a team with a great work ethic, strong hockey IQ (good decision-making with and without the puck), speed, and strength. Players must be willing to learn and develop their skills. A strong emphasis will be placed on players who are very competitive, play a two-way game and are relentless in everything they do on the ice and have a passion for the game.
The program will focus on individual skill development, power skating and team systems. Throughout the season, we will have Paul Jackson (power skating and skills coach) working directly with the team as part of our on-ice coaching staff. Carter Lemieux, former Oakville Ranger will return on a part-time basis this season to focus on forwards.
For goalies, Keith Kornelson will return part-time as part of our on-ice coaching staff. Keith is a former Oakville Ranger goalie who will focus on goalie development and will work with each goalies external development coach through-out the season.
