Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Nick Policelli has been deeply immersed in the world of hockey from a young age. Growing up playing in the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL), Nick developed a lifelong passion for the sport that has only grown stronger over the years. With over 15 years of coaching experience, I have dedicated much of my life to helping athletes of all ages and skill levels develop their hockey skills and passion for the game. I have coached teams in both the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) and GTHL, serving as both Head Coach and Assistant Coach.
My focus is always on skill development, creating positive, supportive environments, and fostering a sense of teamwork among young athletes.
Nick is known for his approachable and communicative coaching style, making athletes feel supported while also pushing them to reach their full potential. His commitment to building strong programs and instilling a love for the game in the next generation of hockey players has made a significant impact on the communities he’s been part of.
After growing up in Toronto, I have spent the last 20 years in Oakville, Ontario, where he enjoys life with his family. A proud father of four children who all share his love for hockey, he continues to be an active and passionate member of the hockey community, both as a coach and as a lifelong supporter of the sport.
My coaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that developing a strong foundation in the technical aspects of hockey is essential for player growth. I focus on the acquisition and refinement of these fundamentals, which allows athletes to build the confidence needed to elevate their game. Throughout the season, I introduce progressively more complex individual and team tactics, as well as system play, to help players develop a well-rounded understanding of the game.
At the heart of my coaching approach is a commitment to fostering growth not only as skilled hockey players but also as elite competitors. I believe that a player’s development extends beyond the ice, and I make it a priority to mentor character growth, teamwork, and camaraderie among my athletes.
My coaching values are Work Ethic, Attitude, and Team Play. These principles guide how I interact with athletes, encourage them to push their limits, and teach them the importance of working together toward a common goal. By emphasizing these values, I strive to create an environment where players not only excel on the ice but also grow as individuals and teammates.
At the core of U14 A Oakville Rangers is the belief that hockey players must have the work ethic and hockey IQ to succeed at the highest levels. Our program is designed for players who are committed to competing every day and challenging themselves to improve both individually and as part of a team.
Players in this program will be expected to give their best at all times—both on and off the ice—during practices and games.
The U14 A program will begin after tryouts with a Spring Development Program that runs Monday through Friday. This schedule allows players to focus on their development throughout the week, with weekends reserved for family time and rest.
The Spring Program will focus on refining the fundamentals while laying the foundation for the season ahead.
On-ice sessions will focus on power skating, individual skill development, and team systems. We emphasize improving skating technique, stickhandling, shooting, and overall game awareness.
Off-ice sessions will help athletes build strength and cardio, ensuring they are physically prepared for the demands of the season.
Throughout the Spring and Winter programs, we will have selected power skating instructors and professional coaches working directly with the team, alongside our dedicated coaching staff. These instructors are experts in their fields and will provide personalized attention to each athlete, ensuring that they are continually challenged and pushed to reach their potential.
This program is built to help young athletes grow both as players and individuals, with the support of a dedicated coaching staff and professional instructors who work closely with every participant throughout the season.
Together, will build a team that not only excels on the ice but also develops a strong work ethic, team mentality, and love for the game.
