My Hockey and Coaching Experience:
- Very passionate about hockey and coaching
- Starting coaching career in Alberta – minor football – Calgary Cowboys
- Volunteer coach for house league/rep teams
- Played junior hockey, and AAA. Rep hockey for 10 years. I still play pickup.
Expectation for this team is to compete for the OMHA title and be a top 10 team in the rankings. This will a high level of effort and focus by all players at all times. If you wish to be apart of this team you will need a desire to improve every time you step onto the ice, every shift, every practice. If you are looking for high fives, bear paws, and juice boxes, this is not the team for you.
Coaching Philosophy
- Be clear and consistent when communicating
- Work hard and have fun
- Attack and defend with speed
- Move the puck – Pass first mentality
- Short shifts (keeps players moving at a fast pace)
- Teach concepts not just specific tactics (make reads & understand options)
Seasonal Plan
- 2-3 practices per week, plus once per week in the gym (team session)
- multiple team building events throughout the season
- Tournaments: Early Bird + 3 in Season Tournaments
