Parent Respect in Sport Certification

Respect In Sport for Parents Respect in Sport for Parents is an effective and informative online training program for parents of active children. This unique certification program compliments Respect in Sport for Coaches/Activity Leaders by reinforcing a parents role in a child or youth’s activities, encouraging positive sport behaviors, and providing insight into the various roles other individuals (such as coaches and officials) play. This program empowers parents to ensure the safety of their children, encourage positive and effective communication, and to enhance a child’s fun and camaraderie of the activity.

As per the 2014 OMHA Mandate, all parents must complete the Parent Respect in Sport online course in order for their child to be eligible to play. This is a one-time only requirement and is completed after the registration. Only one parent needs to complete the course. Players whose parent has not completed the RIS Course will not be allowed on the ice.

If your child's Hockey Canada Profile does not reflect this certification you will receive an email from the ORHC Office with instructions to complete this clinic after you register. PLEASE DO NOT COMPLETE THE PARENT RESPECT IN SPORT CLINIC UNTIL/UNLESS INSTRUCTED TO DO SO BY THE ORHC OFFICE.

Friend Requests

*** FRIEND REQUESTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER AUGUST 1st ***

Friend Requests are requests for players to be placed on the same team as one of their friends. In certain divisions the ORHC will do everything we can to accommodate these requests but there is absolutely no guarantee what so ever. It is important to understand that our first priority is creating teams that are fairly balanced and competitive, in an attempt to ensure that every player in the Association has a fair and equitable season. Priority is given to requests for siblings to be on the same team - there is no need to submit a Friend Request for brothers/sisters.

  • Absolutely NO Friend Requests will be accepted after August 1st
  • Only One (1) Friend Request per player can be submitted
  • if multiple requests are submitted only the first will be accepted - all others will be discarded
  • The request must come from BOTH sides. For example, it is not enough for Johnny to submit a Friend Request to be on a team with Jenny - Jenny also has to submit a request to be on a team with Johnny.
  • Friend Requests must be submitted during Registration and will not be accepted retroactively
  • Advanced League and Rep Hockey are not eligible for Friend Requests

Friend Requests that do not meet the above criteria will not be accepted!
