Meet the Coach
Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Nick Policelli developed his game playing in the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL), where he built a strong technical foundation and a deep understanding of the game.

With over 15 years of coaching experience, Nick has worked with players across multiple levels within the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) and GTHL, serving as both Head Coach and Assistant Coach. His coaching is centered on player development, with a clear focus on skating, puck skills, and hockey IQ.

Nick is known for his direct, structured, and detail-oriented approach. He challenges players to execute at a high pace, think the game at a higher level, and consistently push their performance in both practices and games.

Coaching Philosophy
The foundation of Nick’s coaching philosophy is skill execution under pressure. Practices are designed to maximize repetitions, pace, and decision-making, ensuring players can transfer their skills directly into game situations. A strong emphasis is placed on:

  • Skating mechanics and edge control
  • Puck control and puck protection
  • Shooting and scoring habits
  • Game awareness and decision-making

As the season progresses, players are introduced to more advanced team concepts, systems, and situational play. The goal is to develop complete players who can think, react, and execute at a high level.

Accountability and consistency are key expectations. Players are pushed to compete every shift, every drill, and every game.

About the Program
The U15 A Oakville Rangers program is built for players who want to compete, and take the next step in their development.

The program begins with a Spring Development phase following tryouts, running Monday through Friday. This allows for a high volume of structured ice time focused on skill refinement and progression.

On-ice development focuses on:

  • Power skating and stride efficiency
  • Puck handling at speed
  • Passing and receiving under pressure
  • Shooting techniques and scoring in motion
  • Small-area games to develop compete level and decision-making
  • Team systems and positional play

Practices are designed to be fast-paced and demanding, with an emphasis on execution and game transfer.

Off-ice training focuses on:

  • Speed and agility
  • Strength development
  • Conditioning for game performance

Throughout the season, players will work with specialized instructors to further develop key areas of their game. Every session is structured to challenge players and drive measurable improvement.

Season Outlook
This team will play with pace, structure, and compete. A strong work ethic and attention to detail will define how we practice and how we play.

Program structure includes:

  • 3–4 hours of team practice per week
  • Weekly position-specific skill development (forwards, defense, goalies)
  • 2 OMHA games per week (home and away)
  • Weekly off-ice training sessions

Goaltending Development:

  • Dedicated team goalie coach integrated into all team practices
  • Position-specific development within team structure

The expectation is consistent effort, high compete level, and execution. The objective is to build a team that plays fast, thinks the game well, and performs at a high level throughout the season.
