Meet the Coach
I grew up playing my minor hockey in Belleville and still play 2-3 times a week here in Oakville. I have been involved with the MOHA/ORHC for 20+ years, holding all roles on the bench. This will be my 19th season as Head Coach and my 11th as a non-parent Head Coach. I am Hockey Canada Development 1 certified.

About the Program
I am looking to build the U13 B Rangers as a fast-paced, highly skilled team. Key abilities I am watching for are:

  • a relentless work ethic and a high compete level
  • speed & stamina
  • strong decision-making skills with and without the puck
  • great shooting abilities, and
  • two-way players with a strong desire to get better every day

We will play a structured game, but players will have / must have the freedom to be creative. Mistakes will happen and we will all learn along the way. I want our players to be in a competitive, positive and fun environment where they can develop their individual and team skills.

Season Plans
As soon as possible after the team has been selected, we will have our first player and parent meeting and hold development sessions until the end of June that focus mainly on power skating and individual skills so that the players have their ‘homework’ through the summer.

Once the team can gather again, September will be a busy month.

  • Power skating and professional skills sessions for both the position players and goalies will re-start and continue throughout the season
  • Team practices will begin
  • Exhibition games and our first tournament are also in the plan

Once the season is under way we can expect:

  • ~ 2 practices a week – split between individual & team skills
  • 2 games per week (home & away)
  • 3 additional tournaments – October, November (London) and January
  • Dryland Training TBD
